Iraqi authorities executed at least 65 people in the first 40 days of 2012 for various offences, including 14 on a single day, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW).The New York-based advocacy group said trials often violated international standards. Many defendants were unable to challenge the evidence against them, which may include coerced confession.

The death certificate was completed at H1, the forward operating base of Task Force 20.Registered as unknown – shortly afterwards RAF was told he had been beaten to death.The MoD says investigators did not know the location of the body – but the death certificate gives its precise location .The RAF Regiment were concerned that Australian troops had tied only the prisoners’ thumbs together, and had not put sandbags on their heads.The prisoners were forced to the floor of the Chinook, and guards kneeled on the backs of some.One of the prisoners, who was severely disabled, parted company with both his prosthetic legs.Two of the prisoners were said to be “unresponsive” – in fact, one was dead, and a second was unconscious.

Iraq suicide bomber kills 26

According to Iraqi Officials 26 people were killed in a suicide bombing in south-east baghdad. Police officials report the attack took place at 11am local time Friday. 53 People were also wounded in the incident. Over 200 people have been killed in Iraq since the withdrawal of US troops last month.
