The Iraq Ministry of Health provides services to every person living in Iraq, as well as assistance during emergencies. It is responsible for all of the medical centers in the country. It covers a wide array of areas including clinics, health inspections, planning, prevention, and medication.

The Ministry has given away free vaccines for children, created a media campaign to promote better nutrition and exercise for kids, and recently began building eleven new hospitals in different areas of the country. One of those is a new children’s hospital with 300 beds. There will also be three new training hospitals that can hold four hundred patients.
In September 2010, the Ministry teamed up with the BMJ Group to launch an online service for Iraqi doctors that promotes education, research, and professional development. It is a free service with over five hundred training classes on important medical issues in the country. It also gives local doctor’s access to important medical journals and gives them the ability to publish their own reports and case studies.
The Iraq War caused damage in most areas of Iraq, medical services included. The Iraq Ministry of Health continued providing services to all the country’s citizens despite the war. The Ministry today is one of Iraq’s leaders in helping to rebuild and once again establish the country ensuring that the Iraqi people and medical professionals have what they need to be healthy and successful.
